New York Jets 2020 NFL Draft grades: Mekhi Becton added
Best Pick: Mekhi Becton, OT, Louisville
There is no doubt that Mekhi Becton can become an All-Pro offensive tackle in the NFL. He has the size and athelticism to do so. If he stays focused and disciplined in his role, we all may look back and wonder how he fell to the Jets in this spot.
Becton should be a starter from day one in New York protecting Sam Darnold and paving huge holes for Le’Veon Bell. If they succeed in winning the AFC East this year, he may be one of the biggest reasons why. The ceiling is extremely hugh for the Louisville prospect.
Worst Pick: Jabari Zuniga, EDGE, Florida
This is just a case of a reach. Zuniga could become a servicable player in the NFL, but the Jets ahd so many other options available to them in the second round. A trade could have also been better here, rather than taking the chance at the Florida pass rusher. He really wasn’t even the best pass rusher on that Gators team behind Jonathan Greenard.
New York but together a great draft overall, but this one feels like the one big miss. For the sake of the sanity of New York fans though, let’s hope that Zuniga finds a way to become a Pro Bowl type player.
Grade: A-
Joe Douglas has a case to make for the best overall draft in 2020. He addressed team needs will manipulating his picks via trades up and down. He added picks, moved into better positions, and got players that can play now. That is tougher to do than it sounds.
The Jets selected players that should have long NFL careers.
