Gibson may be designated as a receiver, but he’ll be expected to make just as significant of an impact in the running game.

He had over 1,100 yards from scrimmage in 2019, catching eight touchdown passes while running for another scores in a season in which he proved himself a dynamic big-play threat.

Indeed, Gibson averaged 19.3 yards per reception and 11.2 yards per carry in 2019 and will add another dimension to a Redskins offense not short on talent.

Terry McLaurin was one of the top rookie receivers in the league last season while there have been promising signs from the likes of Kelvin Harmon and Trey Quinn.

But Redskins do not have anyone else like Gibson on the roster.

Blessed with 4.39 speed at 6-foot and 228 pounds, Gibson’s burst and vision should allow him to make an immediate impact for the Redskins in much the same way Deebo Samuel did for the San Francisco 49ers last season.

Gibson has the added upside of being able to make plays in the return game. His selection is one that flies in the face of the product put on the field last year by the Redskins offense, which was among the league’s most uninspiring.

The Redskins weren’t just bad last year, they were boring. With Gibson in the attack, they should be anything but.
