Second Round

Scouting Report. Colorado. Laviska Shenault Jr.. player. Pick Analysis. WR. 42. 857

Once again, it’s going to sound like we’re fawning a bit, but Shenault is such a well-rounded wide receiver that in a normal class, he’d be a lock for a first round pick. It’s also the reason why the Jaguars likely overlooked some larger needs for the sake of adding the dynamic talent from Colorado.

The Jags already have D.J. Chark and some auxiliary talents like Chris Conley and Dede Westbrook, but it was too tempting to add the sort of complete package offered by Shenault to the offense for the next few years. Shenault has very good game speed to go with a strong burst and quickness, yet he’s also an imposing figure at 6-foot-2 and 220 pounds who is physical and will outmuscle most defensive backs for the ball.

Few receivers have the hands, the size, the athleticism, and the physical nature to be the sort of offensive threat that Shenault can be. The downside here is a concern about durability, but if he can remain healthy and focused, Shenault will be worth the pick here and then some.
