Kevin Youkilis

Kevin Youkilis played fewer games for the Yankees (28) than his jersey number (36).

Of course, Youkilis spent the majority of career with the Boston Red Sox. His stupid batting stance with his hands so far apart? Holy you-know-what was it annoying.

But he did have a nice, elite two-year stretch. No, not with the Yankees.

From 2008-09, he slashed .309/.401/.559, hitting 56 home runs and driving in 209 runs in that span. In 2008, he finished in third place in the American League MVP voting, and in 2009, he came in sixth.

His numbers with the Yankees, however, were very bad.

In 28 games, he hit .219 (23-105) with just two home runs and eight RBI. He landed on the then-disabled list in late April, came back to play 11 games, and then never played again.

The “Greek God of Walks” walked eight times with the Yankees. He was in the top-10 in walks in the American League just once in his career, so where did this nickname even come from?

Yankee fans never got used to seeing his shaven face, either. The guy is a Red Sock.
