New Orleans Saints. 4. player. 15. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. NFC. South

The New Orleans Saints have four quarterbacks on their roster. Drew Brees signed a two-year deal this offseason, but he might hang up the spikes after the 2020 NFL season. He’s got his post-playing career lined up with a pretty sweet gig with NBC Sports. New Orleans also extended Taysom Hill, signed Jameis Winston as a free agent and drafted Tommy Stevens over the weekend.

As long as Brees wants to keep playing, the greatest player in Saints franchise history will keep starting under center for the Saints. However, Winston only signed a one-year deal with the Saints, Hill hasn’t attempted two dozen passes as a professional and there are no guarantees Stevens will even be a practice squad player. Despite four quarterbacks, there is great uncertainty.

Throughout the draft process, the Saints were a candidate to potentially draft Jordan Love late in the first round out of Utah State. He went to the Green Bay Packers at No. 26, but if the Saints really wanted him they would have found a way to get him. Clearly, they didn’t want Love, but maybe some other quarterback in next year’s draft class might tickle their fancy?

New Orleans has to come to grips with this being Brees’ last season. He looked tired at the tail-end of the 2018 campaign. While that wasn’t an issue last year, it’s most likely due to him missing five games mid-season with a busted thumb. The Saints may see what Winston can do in 2021 or give their favorite son Hill the keys to the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, but they could draft a guy.
