5 reasons why Tua Tagovailoa is a perfect fit for the Miami Dolphins

It’s Tua time for the Miami Dolphins, and it’s going to be a fun journey.
In 2019, the hype around Tua Tagovailoa began with the “Tank for Tua” campaign. Despite the Miami Dolphins not ultimately tanking, they won five of their last nine games of the season, and they still ended up with their guy.
Tagovailoa is the Dolphins’ highest-drafted quarterback since Hall of Famer Brian Griese in 1967. The Alabama star became the first left-handed quarterback to be drafted since Tim Tebow in 2010.
In Tagavoila, the Dolphins are getting a good football player and a better person. But, how is the left-handed signal-caller a perfect match for Miami? The uncertainty surrounding the 6’0” 217-pound quarterback landed him with an organization that is willing to develop him properly. Tagovailoa had some convincing to do.
1. The patience is there for Tua to fully develop
Miami debated whether or not to draft the Alabama star or Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert. The scouts did their homework on both players, and ultimately Tagovailoa was the guy the Dolphins desperately needed. The talent is there to make him a superstar in South Beach.
On film, he demonstrates his skill with top-tier decision making and athletic playmaking ability. His upside is out of this world as Tagovailoa was too much talent to pass upon in the draft. The left-handed signal-caller can sit and learn for a year while veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick will likely be the starter.
It’s not a bad thing, a year behind the 37-year old Fitzpatrick wouldn’t hurt, especially since Tagovailoa’s season was cut short by a hip injury. Tagovailoa may not be thrown into the fire that past rookie quarterbacks had to go through. Fitzpatrick has faced a ton of adversity throughout his career, which is something the 22-year old didn’t experience until the hip injury occurred. If Fitzpatrick struggles, don’t be surprised if the No. 5 pick is on the field early.
Tagovailoa has the chance to be the best quarterback of the draft. He should have a smooth transition to learn under Fitzpatrick and offensive coordinator, Chan Gailey.
