4. Raheem Mostert will rush for 1,000 yards

The 49ers had the luxury of splitting carries between three quality running backs in 2019. Mostert, Tevin Coleman and Matt Breida all had moments of brilliance for Shanahan’s offense.

The decision to trade Breida during the draft obviously opens up more carries for Mostert and Coleman. Both should see their respective workloads increase. Mostert is the guy who is in line to absorb the lion’s share of the team’s carries.

After all, he averaged 5.6 yards per carry a season ago. The 49ers should get him the ball more often this season. They’re not going to suddenly weigh him down with 300 carries, but it’s easy to envision a scenario where he gets somewhere in excess of 225 rushing attempts.

As long as he keeps his yards per carry average over five that should put him in line to break the 1,000 yard mark. The 49ers still have one of the best offensive lines in football. They also have a coach that wants to run the football. That means Mostert is in line for a career season as the team’s No. 1 running back.
