Away: Detroit Lions

A quick look at the Chicago Bears schedule from last year shows two wins over the Lions and a nice quick line of six touchdowns and a single interception from Trubisky in those contests. Those are solid numbers, but it also warrants a mention that the Lions quarterbacks in those games were Jeff Driskel and David Blough.

This year, it’s hard to tell how the Lions will fare. On the one hand, the return of Matthew Stafford completely changes the offensive production of this team and gives them an experienced arm capable of making the big play when it matters most. Then again, Stafford started both games in 2018 against the Bears and lost both.

It doesn’t help the Lions that they seem to be a revolving door of talent without making any noticeable strides forward. Darius Slay is gone and will be replaced by the draft’s top cornerback Jeff Okudah. A’Shawn Robinson is out but Danny Shelton and Nick Williams are in. Jamie Collins is signed, but Devon Kennard left. The same switch can be said of Halapoulivaati Vaitai for Rick Wagner at tackle.

To boil it down, Detroit is the bird who loudly flaps its wings to further the notion that it’s going somewhere when it’s really staying in place.
