Detroit Lions 2020 NFL schedule: 5 must-win games
By Matt Conner
Home: Washington Redskins
Ron Rivera has already started to clean house in the nation’s capital, but unfortunately he’s not tasked with political spheres. Instead, he’s stripping down the Redskins roster to the studs and rebuilding one of the NFL’s premiere franchises.
To face the Redskins in 2020, then, should be about as soft as they’ll ever be under Rivera’s proven leadership, especially as they continue to ask questions about quarterback Dwayne Haskins.
In the secondary, Josh Norman is gone (and won’t be missed) as is Quinton Dunbar (who will be missed) and Ryan Kerrigan will be another year advanced. The Skins have a few nice pieces in the front seven and a solid offensive line if Trent Williams returns, but the pieces just aren’t here to be competitive.
The lack of proven playmakers, sans Terry McLaurin, around an inconsistent quarterback is going to make this a very long season in D.C., and Stafford should be able to enjoy a nice victory cigar after this visit from the Hogs.
