No. 25: Bob Huggins

Bob Huggins is the head coach of the West Virginia Mountaineers and in his 20 years with the team has led their program to a 288-155 record, being named the Conference USA Coach of the Decade in 2005 after receiving three conference Coach of the Year awards in a row from 1998-2000. He was also the Big 12 Coach of the Year in 2015 and won the Jim Phelan Award that same year.

Huggins currently sits at 809 career wins which put him at eighth-most in college basketball history, although he sits a large gap of 65 wins behind the next highest, who we’ll see later on this list. He’s taken his team to the NCAA tournament 24 times in his career, including 23 times in the last 26 seasons.

With two NCAA Tournament Championships, and numerous conference tournament and regular-season championships highlighted by a whopping eight Conference USA regular-season titles, Huggins has led an impressive head coaching tenure.

Some so many deserving coaches could’ve fit in this spot or higher, but based on sheer accomplishment, Huggins is a lock for this list but faces tough competition. He’s a great way to start this list, beginning a trend of coaches who spent long tenures building one (or several) programs.

Consider the fun, officially begun.
