2. Dallas gets back in the NFC East winner’s circle

The Dallas Cowboys will contend for the division in 2020. With McCarthy and a nice offseason, the team should be the favorites to win the NFC East.

Although, fans will need to temper their expectations. Running the table and winning the Super Bowl could potentially happen, but probably not likely in year one with McCarthy.

If the defense plays to the level it did in 2018, then the making a deep playoff run is more plausible. With Leighton Vander Esch back and healthy, and the additions of Gerald McCoy and Dontari Poe, finding that dominant form might happen under new defensive coordinator Mike Nolan.

The ceiling for the Cowboys is high. Can Prescott lead the team to a Super Bowl? Will the defense play well? Can McCarthy re-acclimate himself to the NFL? The lists of questions is long, but the team could be much better if those answers are yeses in 2020.

Philadelphia will be the direct competition for the NFC East title. This has been the case the last few seasons, and the Cowboys are the better team right now.

Setting the bar at simply winning the division might appear low. However, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New Orleans Saints and San Francisco 49ers are all ahead of the Cowboys in the NFC picture.

Winning the division and perhaps playing into the second round of the playoffs is realistic for 2020.
