NFL quarterback power rankings: AFC West edition
1. Kansas City Chiefs
Patrick Mahomes 2019 – 4,031 yards, 28 Total TD, 5 INT.
Patrick Mahomes has been in the NFL for three seasons, and he has been a starter for two years. Here is a list of his accolades: 2x Pro Bowl, 1x All-Pro, 2018 AP Offensive Player of the Year, 2018 MVP, Super Bowl champion and Super Bowl MVP last season. Also, he has a 50-touchdown season.
Mahomes is a sensation. Perhaps even the best overall player in the NFL today. He has taken the Chiefs and positioned the franchise for a dynasty. If it wasn’t for the flip of a coin or a jump offside in the 2018 conference championship game, he could have two Super Bowl wins on his resume.
In the playoffs, Mahomes is 4-1 with 1,474 yards, 16 total touchdowns and two interceptions. His lone loss came in that conference championship against the New England Patriots discussed above.
Mahomes is not only clearly the best quarterback in the AFC West, he’s the best signal-caller in the entire NFL. During the team’s iconic run to the Super Bowl, he led the team on multiple comebacks, doing so one last time in that championship game against the San Francisco 49ers.
At age 24, Mahomes has already etched his name in NFL lore. The future Hall of Fame quarterback is one of the most exciting players to watch, and he is only getting better.
