5 players who Bills need to be great in 2020
1. Josh Allen
Allen continues to be one of the most difficult quarterbacks in the NFL to accurately evaluate. It’s really difficult for a signal caller that completes less than 60% of his passes to lead his team to the playoffs. That’s just what Allen did in 2019.
Obviously, the Bills hope the addition fo Diggs will increase his efficiency as a passer. They’d love to see his completion percentage progress into the mid 60s this season. It’s arguably more important to see his rushing attempts number decline sharply.
The Bills offense is only going to go as far as Allen can lead it this season. He’s never going to become a pinpoint passer, but the percentage of big plays he can make should increase this season with Diggs in the fold. Another explosion play per game with Allen’s arm could do wonders for the way people perceive the Buffalo offense.
The key for Allen will be to try to introduce modest adjustments to the way he plays the position. His running game is a big part of his effectiveness, but he needs to learn to pick his spots. The way he can stretch a field with his arm strength is crucial for this offense, but he could stand to check the ball down a few more times per game.
If Allen can make those subtle adjustments this could turn into a special season for Bills fans. He needs to turn this offense into a top 10 unit in the NFL to transform Buffalo into a legitimate Super Bowl contender.
