Away: Washington Redskins

Here it is: the Ron Rivera revenge game. If you believe the coach will want to show up his former team, which is likely the greater level of inspiration or emotion at work here than the reverse, then that’s good news for Washington. Still, Matt Rhule will want to prove to fans that hiring him was the right move, so expect this date to be circled when announced in the minds of coaches and players.

Last year, the Redskins won 29-21 by pounding the defense with the one-two punch of Derrius Guice and Adrian Peterson to the tune of 228 rushing yards combined and 3 touchdowns. On the flip side, Washington’s defense held McCaffrey to only 44 rushing yards and forced Kyle Allen to throw the ball which he did to middling results.

The bottom line is that Washington’s front seven will only better with the assumed addition of Ohio State pass rusher Chase Young in the draft. He’ll combine with Montez Sweat, Matthew Ioannidis, Jon Allen and more to form a high-pressure front and Bridgewater will need to be patient and focused while the line will take one of the most underrated challenges of the year.
