Away: Seattle Seahawks

The NFC West is loaded and if the 49ers somehow falter in their own attempts to repeat, Pete Carroll and perennial MVP candidate Russ Wilson will be there waiting with postseason expectations of their own.

The Rams were able to split the season series with the Seahawks last year and the loss was a single-point separation on the road in Seattle. In short, McVay should be a bit more confident here than against San Francisco and it showed in the second game of the year, a 16-point drubbing of the Seahawks in December.

In that second game, the Rams were able to keep Jared Goff completely upright while getting to Wilson again and again. Seattle even won the turnover battle and still got whipped thanks to the Rams offensive momentum and defensive pressure. Wilson went down five times, was hurried several more, and Aaron Donald had four quarterback hits himself.

Therefore, the Rams have to smile at the fact that Seattle’s offensive renovation has brought in names like Brandon Shell, Cedric Ogbuechi, and B.J. Finney. It’s reshuffling deck chairs on the Titanic as they say, and the Rams defensive front should feast again this year unless Seattle invests heavily in the draft or makes moves later this year.
