Los Angeles Rams 2020 NFL schedule: 5 must-win games
By Matt Conner
Home: Dallas Cowboys
On paper, the Dallas Cowboys have plenty of talent yet they experienced an odd letdown of a season like the Rams in which fans and NFL analysts were left scratching their heads wondering how America’s Team only went 8-8.
It’s going to be interesting to see how the Cowboys work out long-term with their decisions to pay Zeke Elliott, Dak Prescott and Amari Cooper such high prices.
The moves have forced them to part ways with other major players and role players alike, including versatile defensive back Byron Jones, which means a thinned out team might be an easier opponent than expected. After all, the teams left standing at season’s end are those who can often best withstand fatigue and injuries.
Randall Cobb is gone. Jason Witten is out. Xavier Sua-Filo and Robert Quinn both left as well. Kerry Hyder, Jeff Heath, Maliek Collins, and possibly Michael Bennett are also gone. The good news is that Dontari Poe will help bolster the line and HaHa Clinton-Dix and Maurice Canady will contribute positively to the secondary. Are these additions enough? It remains to be seen.
Mike McCarthy isn’t just any new coach. He’s been around the block and is motivated to return the Cowboys to their former glory. But one of these teams who believe they are better than last year showed will have to lose making this a bigger game in terms of confidence than initially expected.
