Philip Rivers: 2019 – 4,615 yards, 23 Total TD, 20 INT

Andrew Luck shockingly decided to retire prior to last season. In 2018, he finally looked fully healthy and the team’s offensive line was one of the best.

Chris Ballard turned to Jacoby Brissett for the 2019 season. He did not perform well, and the Colts missed the playoffs with a 7-9 record.

So, Ballard pivoted to Philip Rivers this offseason. The veteran spent 16 years with the Chargers before they decided to get younger under center.

Rivers had a miserable 2019. He threw for a lot of yards but turned the ball over alarmingly frequently. This has some people wondering if he can continue to be a starting quarterback at this stage in his lenghty career.

This year, Rivers will be placed in a good situation where he can succeed. On the offensive line, the Colts are built strong. At the skills positions, Rivers will have T.Y. Hilton and Marlon Mack, as well as rookies Michael Pittman Jr. and Jonathan Taylor.

At age 38, Rivers looks to make another run at the Super Bowl. Expecting him to be as good as Luck would be unfair. But, assuming he will be more productive than Brissett is justified.
