1. Houston Texans

There are bad offseasons in the NFL and there is the one that Bill O’Brien put together for the Houston Texans. It all started when O’Brien convinced the organization to name him as the permanent GM, giving him complete power over football operations.

The lunacy started when O’Brien traded DeAndre Hopkins, arguably the best receiver in football, for 25 cents on the dollar by getting back David Johnson (as well as absorbing his big contract) and a second-round pick. The Texans then filled that void by trading another second-round pick to the Rams for Brandin Cooks, an injury-prone receiver making much more money than Hopkins did.

O’Brien then started throwing around money like a drunken sailor in free agency, giving big contracts to Randall Cobb and Eric Murray, who are at best role players on this team. The Texans also let talented nose tackle D.J. Reader walk, forcing O’Brien to use the pick they got for Hopkins to draft Reader’s replacement, Ross Blacklock.

This pathetic excuse of an offseason is without a doubt the worst in the NFL and has turned the Texans into the third-best team in their own division. Deshaun Watson cannot be happy with what has happened in Houston this spring, creating some long-term headaches for the franchise thanks to this disaster O’Brien created.
