Atlanta Falcons 2020 NFL season results

There will be moments in the Falcons’ 2020 season where we’ll see signs of what they used to be. The offense will captivate us during stretches, thanks in large part to having 11 former first-round picks on that side of the ball. We might even seen a more consistent effort defensively under new coordinator Raheem Morris. However, the Falcons are still the Falcons and will let us down.

If they were truly firing on all cylinders, this team could go 11-5 like the 2016 NFC Championship team did. Atlanta has a sliver of hope it can win the NFC South, but will need Drew Brees to rapidly decay for the New Orleans Saints and for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to continue to be a dysfunctional mess, even with the arrivals of Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski.

By getting to 4-2 in NFC South play with home wins over all rivals and a season sweep of the Carolina Panthers, Atlanta should be good enough to invert its record from a season ago. We’re looking at a team that does ver well at home, going 7-1 with its only loss to the Seattle Seahawks. However, a 2-6 mark on the road doesn’t bode well for the Dirty Birds to win the division.

What is important to note here is the Falcons have made the NFC playoffs each of the last four years where there is a Presidential election. It might have something to do with playing well vs. the AFC West for some reason, as that always tends to add up. Having the head-to-head tiebreakers over the Chicago Bears and Dallas Cowboys has them playing on Wild Card Weekend.

Prediction: 10-6 (3rd in NFC South, No. 7 seed in NFC)
