Taysom Hill, New Orleans Saints

Taysom Hill is extremely overrated. He creates some fun plays, yes, but he really is not a quarterback and shouldn’t be viewed as one. The Saints though have made the mistake of buying into him as the heir apparent to Drew Brees, though.

This offseason, Hill signed an extension and in 2020 he will make $4.64 million to be a gimmick. Incredibly, he won’t even serve as the backup quarterback with Jameis Winston coming to town on a one-year deal.

The fact the Saints don’t trust him enough to pass the ball more often out of a normal offens I’ve scheme is telling, and he really isn’t a future face of the franchise. Many argue that he is in waiting and will be there to lead the Saints in 2020 when Brees starts his broadcasting career, but that seems highly unlikely.

Hill wasn’t even the starter when Brees got injured in 2019. The team trusted Teddy Bridgewater with that task.

Hill is fun to watch, and you never know what is going to happen when he is on the field. Well, you do know he probably isn’t going to throw a pass, so the Saints should stop treating him like the a quarterback.
