NFL Schedule 2020: Breaking down the primetime games
Sunday Night Football grade: B
This is, as always, a really good lineup of games for NBC to get. There is, however, a sense that NBC didn’t get as many marquee games onto Sunday Night Football as they have in the recent past.
The NFL did get the Chiefs onto Sunday night three times, but their two biggest games of the season aren’t in this package. The NFC title game rematch between the Green Bay Packers and San Francisco 49ers also eluded Sunday night, which is interesting.
There are still plenty of marquee matchups to see, but NBC can’t be thrilled with the fact that two of its games in November sweeps are Chiefs-Raiders and Ravens-Patriots, both of which sound better than they actually are. NBC’s best game comes all the way in Week 15, which could be huge for the playoff picture but poorly timed since it’s five days before Christmas.
All in all, NBC should be happy with the Sunday night slate they got, and their ability to flex games in will fix some potential potholes that could arise. There is a good sense, however, that they should have been given just a bit more.
