Monday Night Football grade: B+

This has to make ESPN feel fantastic: Their Monday Night Football schedule was better than the Sunday night one. ESPN does get graded on a curve here given the circumstances of primetime appearance limits, but they made out very well for themselves.

Not only did ESPN get the AFC’s biggest matchup of the year with the Ravens and Chiefs, but they also got the Ravens a second time late in the season. The Saints, Patriots, Buccaneers and Bills all appear twice on Monday night as well, giving the package plenty of marquee name value.

The NFL also did a good job maximizing the value of primetime appearances on Monday night for Kansas City, San Francisco and Dallas, giving their one slot an entertaining matchup. There also isn’t a true “dog” game that screams epic disaster, which hasn’t always been the case for ESPN in the past.

Simply put, Monday Night Football has a chance to be really good again for the first time in years. That is a massive win for football fans dying for some quality games to conclude the NFL week.
