NFL schedule 2020: Biggest game for all 32 teams
Jacksonville Jaguars: vs. Chicago Bears
There may not be a better candidate to tank for Trevor Lawrence in the NFL than the Jacksonville Jaguars. It is incredible to consider how far this franchise has fallen since coming mere minutes away from topping the New England Patriots to reach Super Bowl LII.
Since taking the field in New England that day the Jaguars have gone 11-21 and the core of the Sacksonville defense has been gutted. The first major domino fell when Jalen Ramsey forced his way out of town last season, and several other key defenders have exited since.
The quarterback position has been an open question as well with Nick Foles signing a big-money deal prior to 2019 only to get hurt and cede the job to Gardner Minshew. Jaguars’ fans fell in love with Minshew and the team agreed, dealing Foles to the Chicago Bears for a draft pick.
Foles is probably thrilled to land in Chicago, where he should have an excellent chance to unseat Mitchell Trubisky and claim the starting job. The Bears do come to Jacksonville this season, so this game will be much more meaningful for both the Jaguars and Foles if that is the case.
Picking up a win over the Bears would be a huge vindication for the Jaguars’ front office that they made the right choice in dealing Foles. Minshew could also use this kind of big win to help sell the franchise on the fact that he can be the long-term answer in Jacksonville.
