NFL schedule 2020: Biggest game for all 32 teams
Los Angeles Chargers: at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
It is the start of a new era in Los Angeles as the Chargers will be breaking in a new quarterback. Philip Rivers is off to Indianapolis and the Chargers are in search of an identity as they prepare to move into SoFi Stadium in the fall.
The 2019 season was an absolute disaster for the Chargers, who fell flat on their faces coming off a 12-4 season. Los Angeles saw Rivers have one of his worst statistical seasons while Melvin Gordon’s holdout set the offense back even further.
Both players are now gone, and at this point, it seems like the Chargers are preparing to draft a new quarterback after failing to land a star passer in free agency. The Chargers did make a push for Tom Brady and were spurned when the legend chose to take his talents to Tampa Bay instead.
The Buccaneers are set to host the Chargers this year, giving Brady an up-close look at the team he passed on. Los Angeles would love to show Brady he made the wrong decision by picking up a win over Tampa Bay at Raymond James Stadium.
That contest is also a key road game for the Chargers, who will need to secure a bunch of those to feel better about their chances of returning to the playoffs. Taking care of business on the road is important for Los Angeles, which is still trying to establish a home-field advantage as the market’s second-most popular team.
