Weeks 13-17

14. 10. 24. 57. Final

The Bears get a glimpse at one of the quarterbacks they passed on in 2017, but Deshaun Watson’s first trip to Soldier Field is more pleasant that Patrick Mahomes’ visit last year. Houston simply doesn’t have enough on the offensive side of the football to score on a tough Chicago defense.

24. 60. 21. 57. Final

This rivalry has gone in Chicago’s favor of late, but the Vikings get on the board here with a close victory at Soldier Field. An early commitment to the run game with Dalvin Cook makes a huge difference for Minnesota in a 24-21 victory.

20. 57. 21. 52. Final

This game turns out to be one of the worst losses of the season for Chicago, which loses despite being forced to go to Nick Foles in this game. Eddy Pineiro misses a last-second PAT to doom the Bears in this one.

Final. 17. 49. 23. 57

This is a massive statement for the Bears to knock off the reigning division champs at home. The Packers’ offensive line will struggle to contain Khalil Mack, who finds his way into the backfield early and often.

Overall Record: 8-8

Home Record: 5-3

Away Record: 3-5

In the end, it looks as if the Bears will have a very similar year to the one they went through in 2019. Chicago has plenty of talent on its roster, but limitations at quarterback will hold them back from reaching their true potential.

This is a problem the Bears are well aware of, which is why they traded for Nick Foles to give themselves an insurance policy under center. The competition still feels heavily weighted towards incumbent Mitchell Trubisky, who the organization desperately wants to succeed.

Sticking with Trubisky likely cost the Bears a shot at a higher-upside alternative like Cam Newton, who could do wonders with this offense. There will be plenty of moments of frustration with Trubisky, who will probably lose his job to Foles at some point in 2020.

If this season goes according to our projections the Bears will have some hard decisions to make going forward. The biggest one will be what to do with Trubisky, who is closing in on being due for a more expensive second contract.
