There is no way to sugarcoat this one: 2020 will be a brutal year to be a Jaguars’ fan. The team is not good on paper and Gardner Minshew will likely crash back to Earth as more opponents have tape on him going forward.

There are a few memorable moments in here, but in all likelihood it won’t be enough to salvage the jobs of head coach Doug Marrone and general manager David Caldwell. Owner Shad Khan’s patience is wearing thin and an effort like this will result in massive overhaul once again.

The only solace for Jacksonville is that they should end up high enough in the draft to have a shot at Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence, the top passer in the 2021 class. The Jaguars even have an extra first-round pick courtesy of last year’s Jalen Ramsey trade so they have more than enough ammo to ensure that Lawrence is wearing teal and black for the foreseeable future.

The short-term pain will be immense, but the suffering could lead to long-term reward in the form of a long-awaited franchise quarterback. Jacksonville won’t be good this year, but if they play their cards right it will be the rock bottom point of a necessary rebuild.
