Overall Record: 13-3

Home Record: 8-0

Away Record: 5-3

The Chiefs bring back nearly everyone from last year’s title-winning team and it should pay big dividends this season. After going 12-4 a year ago Kansas City should improve by a game in the regular season, and a head-to-head win in Baltimore should give the Chiefs the tiebreaker for home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs.

That could be huge since the Chiefs have one of the best home-field atmospheres in football, as evidenced by our projected 8-0 home record for Kansas City. Arrowhead Stadium is one of the most intimidating places to play in the NFL and Kansas City thrives in front of their hometown fans.

The biggest obstacle for the Chiefs in their quest to repeat as Super Bowl champions may well be themselves. Since most of the Kansas City roster is intact there may not be as much hunger to win another ring as there was in 2019, when the Chiefs were clearly on a mission after losing in the AFC Championship Game to New England a year earlier.

The motivation should come in the form of history, namely the fact that no team has repeated as Super Bowl champs since the Patriots won Super Bowl XXXVII and XXXVIII all the way back in 2004. As long as the Chiefs keep their eye on the prize they have a great shot to win another Super Bowl and cement themselves as a modern NFL dynasty.
