Jon Gruden has decided to make this a make or break season for Derek Carr, it would seem. He has surrounded the veteran with ample weapons and at the end of the 2020 season, we’ll know if Carr is the future of the franchise.

Evidently, he is not. On the one hand, this is disappointing for the Raiders and their fans, as it means another year in relative NFL futility. On the other, it means that Mayock and Gruden will get to go shopping for a new signal caller of the future in the 2021 NFL Draft. That should prove fruitful for the franchise, who already has many pieces in place to have a competitive football team.

Of course, hitting on the quarterback is the hardest part of all football evaluation and drafting, but if the powers-that-be in Las Vegas can get it done, the franchise might hit the jackpot.
