Final record: 5-11

The Redskins were very busy this offseason in free agency and that was to be expected with a new coaching staff and defensive scheme. Their final record will indicate some improvement after that disappointing three-win season in 2019. And don’t be surprised if this is a very tough football down the stretch, even though their final win-loss mark may not indicate it.

Will that be good enough in Rivera’s first season? Will that be encouraging enough from Haskins to move forward with him as the franchise quarterback or will there need to be a decision looming in another year if he doesn’t take a big step in his third year in 2021?

It likely won’t be good enough to move out of the top-five picks in the 2021 NFL Draft, but there are a number of holes on the roster that Rivera needs to fill. He can’t fill them all in one offseason and one draft. However, if this is a step toward going 8-8 in 2021, that’s going to represent significant progress in hindsight.
