5 teams who should trade for Bengals WR A.J. Green
1. Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens fell short in last year’s playoffs after going 14-2 during the regular season, but another strong draft has them primed to take the next step this year. Rumors of signing Antonio Brown are lingering, but for a lot of reasons it’s unclear if it will happen.
Baltimore franchise tagged outside linebacker Matt Judon, with the exact amount dependent on if he’s classified as an outside linebacker or a defensive end. There’s a chance they’d trade him, but more recent news suggests they’re working on multi-year deals with he and offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley. With under $10 million in cap space right now, deals with one or both guys would free up some much-needed room.
The Ravens have a deep running back depth chart, further bolstered by the addition of rookie J.K. Dobbins, and Lamar Jackson’s threat as a runner means a deviation from last year’s offensive formula is not coming. But the limitations of that approach have been exposed in back-to-back postseasons, and general manager Eric DeCosta hasn’t fully dismissed the idea of signing Brown.
"We’re always assessing the players out there on the streets,” DeCosta said. “We’re looking at guys, we’re making decisions that we think are best for the club, and if we think there’s a guy out there who fits us, who’s got the skill set to provide value, we’ll certainly pounce on that type of guy."
It would take some maneuvering to do, with a multi-year deal for Judon and/or Stanley as the first pre-requisites. But the Ravens should have Green on their radar, as they try to overtake the Chiefs in the AFC and load up for a Super Bowl run this year.
Here’s how a deal could be done.
