5 random players you forgot were on the Golden State Warriors

2. Kermit Washington
You may scratch your head at this one. Whether you’re too young to remember Washington or don’t remember him playing in Golden State, you’re just fine. If you’re too young, Washington was a 6-foot-8 power forward taken fifth overall by the Los Angeles Lakers in the 1973 draft.
Throughout his career, he earned two all-defensive team nods and one all-star appearance in Portland in 1980. His career averages of 9.2 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game on 52 percent shooting certainly don’t leap off the page. Even in his all-star season, Washington averaged 13.4 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game on 55.5 percent shooting. These may not be flashy but a guy you wouldn’t mind having on your side.
What’s interesting about Washington is his career arc and how he wound up in Golden State. Washington played through the 1982 season and age 30 before calling it quits. He remained retired for five seasons before returning for six games with the Warriors in the 1987-88 season at 36 years old.
However, Washington’s return lasted just six games. Of those games, Washington started one but was usually good for a bucket or two and a handful of rebounds. The Warriors would waive Washington in late November of 1988 but all things considered, Washington fared reasonably well in his NBA return.
