5 random players you forgot were on the Golden State Warriors
By Derek James
1. Jamal Crawford
Of the eight teams Crawford played for during his 19-year career, which comes to mind? His stints with the Knicks, Clippers, and Bulls likely come to mind first. Yet, when a player plays for so long and makes his way around the league so often, he’s bound to have an odd stop along the way.
Early in the 2008-09 season, the Knicks traded Crawford to Golden State for Al Harrington. Despite playing just 54 games, his time with the Warriors marks a turning point in Crawford’s career as it’s the last time he’s a regular starter playing 38 minutes a night to becoming a three-time Sixth Man of the Year from this point on.
Crawford did what he does best as a Warrior and that was getting buckets. In 54 games, Crawford averaged 19.7 points on 40 percent shooting and making just 33.8 percent of his 5.9 3-point attempts per game. Steph Curry would thankfully arrive the following season to remind Warriors fans what efficiency looked like.
Everything worked out for both sides. The Warriors landed Curry and the first building block of a dynasty while Crawford started a new role as one of the league’s best bench scorers with Atlanta, winning his first Sixth Man of the Year award the following season. As for the Warriors, we know how that played out.
