Jacksonville Jaguars all-time Mount Rushmore
RB Maurice Jones-Drew (2006-13)
Despite being one of the smallest backs in football when he entered the league, Maurice Jones-Drew cemented his place on Jacksonville’s Mount Rushmore due to his tenacious heart. Affectionately known by the Jaguars’ fandom as MJD, Jones-Drew fell to the second round of the 2006 NFL Draft due to concerns over his stature.
Jones-Drew initially teamed with Fred Taylor to give Jacksonville a dynamic 1-2 punch in the backfield, but the Jaguars made MJD the leading man after Taylor’s departure in 2008. That decision paid off in spades as Jones-Drew quickly emerged as one of the best running backs in football.
Jones-Drew made three consecutive Pro Bowls from 2009-11 and earned three All-Pro appearances in that span as well. The Jaguars also saw Jones-Drew lead the league in rushing in 2011, although that season would be the high-water mark in MJD’s Jacksonville career.
After recording a whopping 1,084 touches over the previous three years, Jones-Drew quickly wore down, turning in two subpar seasons before getting let go. Jones-Drew’s peak was an incredible one to witness, however, helping him earn his spot on the Jaguars’ Mount Rushmore.
