Milwaukee Brewers

The final team in here that would benefit from the addition of the designated hitter is the Milwaukee Brewers. There are a lot of intriguing possibilities the Brewers could take if the DH was to come to the National League.

One possibility is moving Ryan Braun to designated hitter. Braun is 36 and would greatly benefit from not having to play the field every day. Milwaukee has him listed at first base and left field, but as a backup in left field.

Obviously, the easiest choice for the Brewers would be to move Braun to designated hitter. That’s what makes him and Milwaukee an obvious choice for a team that would benefit the most from adding the DH to the National League.

Last season, Braun hit .285 with 22 home runs, so even as he approaches 40 years old, he certainly still has a lot to offer. Justin Smoak is also listed at first base for the Brewers and it would certainly be fair to expect some sort of platoon there with him and Braun going to DH.

The Brewers, like many teams in the National League would benefit greatly from the addition of the designated hitter. If there is to be a season in 2020, it would be intriguing to see how the DH changes the strategy of the National League.
