2. Matt Patricia (Detroit Lions)

The ice is certainly thin for Matt Patricia in Detroit right now. Patricia is entering his third year as the Lions’ head coach and will need to demonstrate some progress this season to earn a contract extension.

The first two years of the Patricia era haven’t gone according to plan with Detroit going 9-22-1 over the past two seasons. In defense of Patricia, last season went awry when Matthew Stafford suffered a back injury that sidelined him for the Lions’ final eight games.

Unsurprisingly, Detroit lost all eight of the games they played without Stafford. That is of little solace to Patricia, who needs to win in a brutally competitive division in order to save his job.

If the Lions’ season spirals out of control again it wouldn’t be surprising at all to see Bob Quinn pull the ripcord on Patricia in order to salvage his own job. The margin of error is incredibly slim for Patricia and he may not be able to do enough to survive the season in Detroit.
