Mike Tyson’s name has popped up across combat sports and he’s set to appear at AEW Double or Nothing to award the new TNT Championship.

Nostalgia is a big part to professional wrestling and the bug has moved over the All Elite Wrestling.

Mike Tyson, who was involved in one of the biggest moments in recent WWE history, will be at AEW Double or Nothing to award the TNT Championship at the event. Cody and Lance Archer have made it to the final and now battle for an opportunity to share the ring with the former boxing world champion.

The news was revealed on Wednesday during AEW Dynamite. This comes on the heels of Tyson’s name popping back up in combat sports news as he is hinted at a desire to return to competition.

While some organizations have shown an interest in the idea of Tyson’s return, AEW moved quickly to get him involved in this May PPV. As videos of Tyson’s training sessions circulate around the social media space, Cody took a moment to show interest in one by re-tweeting it on Tuesday. Now, Tyson will be in an AEW ring 22 years after he did so in the WWE.

Tyson was a special enforcer back at WrestleMania XIV where he was in the corner of Shawn Michaels as he faced off against Stone Cold Steve Austin. To close the match, Tyson would turn on Michaels, count the pin and Austin would win his first WWE Championship in what would be a legendary career. Tyson last competed back in 2005 when he retired on the stool while facing Kevin McBride. At the time of his retirement, he ended his career with a professional record of 50 wins and six losses.

AEW Double or Nothing is scheduled for Saturday, May 23. Eight scheduled matches are on the card, including the Archer vs. Cody bout, Nyla Rose vs. Hikaru Shida, a Casino Ladder match, Stadium Stampede match and Jon Moxley defending the AEW Championship against Brodie Lee.
