OT. 1. player. Pick Analysis. (2011-13). Greg Robinson. 842. Scouting Report

You could see this one from a mile away, couldn’t you? Offensive tackle Greg Robinson was the epitome of a one-year wonder while at Auburn. His rise from SEC unknown to a No. 2 overall pick was only as quick as his fall from grace in the NFL. Everybody outside of Auburn and the St. Louis/Los Angeles Rams organization knew it wasn’t going to work out for Robinson in the NFL.

With former offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn coming back to Auburn as head coach in 2013, the hurry-up-and-run offense brought the best out of limited offensive personnel. Running back Tre Mason became a Heisman finalist, quarterback Nick Marshall became an Auburn legend and Robinson became a coveted NFL Draft prospect overnight.

Because Robinson redshirted in 2011 and Auburn was atrocious in 2012, there were only a handful of photos circulating around the internet of Robinson. Billed as an absolute road grader as run blocker, people were wondering how they missed this hidden gem. The All-SEC First-Teamer and SEC Champion would be the second player off the board in the following NFL Draft.

While South Carolina Gamecocks defensive end Jadeveon Clowney was the consensus No. 1 overall pick, Robinson was in a group of tackle prospects with Texas A&M’s Jake Matthews and Michigan’s Taylor Lewan. Matthews and Lewan have been Pro Bowlers with the Atlanta Falcons and the Tennessee Titans, respectively. Robinson is a free agent looking for Team No. 4 in 2020.
