If Russell Wilson ever leaves the Seahawks, it’ll be for 1 of these 5 teams
2. Las Vegas Raiders
Derek Carr is on a short leash with the Raiders, and it’s only a matter of time before the team moves on. The signing of Marcus Mariota, who general manager Mike Mayock and head coach Jon Gruden both loved in their previous lives as analysts heading into the 2015 draft, puts Carr on notice this year in a way he hasn’t been put on notice yet.
But as a credit to Mayock and Gruden, with any courtship of Tom Brady this offseason aside, they do not seem to be in a great rush to replace Carr until they find the right guy. It could be Mariota, it could be a 2021 draft pick or it could ultimately be a bigger named veteran.
As the Packers look set to move on in the next couple years and go with Jordan Love, the Raiders have been an easily thought about landing spot for Aaron Rodgers. Along that same line, Wilson should also be on the radar in Vegas if the Seahawks are open to moving him within a similar time frame.
Wilson would the kind of big star to draw fans in Vegas, besides being a great quarterback. He would also surely be fully appreciated and supported by roster reinforcements, in a way he never really has been in Seattle.
If he has any say in where he is traded, leaving aside his ending every interview with “Go ‘Hawks” as an overwrought show of loyalty and/or leadership, the Raiders should be an appealing landing spot for Wilson.
