Pros and cons of Seahawks trading Russell Wilson before 2022
Russell Wilson has been one of the best quarterbacks in the league since he was drafted in the third round in 2012.
The first two quarterbacks taken in the 2012 NFL Draft aren’t even in the league anymore and here Russell Wilson is still wheeling and dealing at age 31. Players like him typically stay with the team who drafted him, but with his style of play and him turning 32 in November, the Seahawks wanting to move on makes sense.
At the same time, however, Wilson hasn’t missed a start since he took the field in week one of his rookie season back in 2012. He’s been sensational for Seattle, leading them to two Super Bowls and winning one. He honestly should have had two rings in back-to-back seasons, but we won’t go down that road here.
If the Seahawks do trade Wilson, they need to make sure they get as much out of that trade as possible. Wilson will be expensive these next two years, so it’s better for the team to keep him until 2022, but if they find it’s best to trade him, they can move on before Wilson isn’t valuable anymore.
