LB Junior Seau

The NFL record for most Pro Bowl selections by an individual is 14, and the mark belongs to five players: Quarterbacks Tom Brady and Peyton Manning and a trio of Hall of Famers in tight end Tony Gonzalez, defensive tackle Merlin Olsen and offensive lineman Bruce Matthews.

When it comes to the linebacker position, the mark is 12 and is shared by two players who are also enshrined in Canton, Ohio: Baltimore Ravens legend Ray Lewis and 20-year veteran Junior Seau – both members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The latter was the fifth overall pick in the 1990 NFL Draft by the Chargers and he would play 13 seasons for the organization as part of the franchise’s only Super Bowl team in 1994. It was during his stay with the Bolts that he earned all of those dozen Pro Bowl invites and was also named All-Pro six times.

In 200 regular-season contests with the Chargers, he totaled 15 interceptions, 16 fumble recoveries and 47.5 sacks. He would finish his career in the AFC East, first with the Dolphins and later with the Patriots. But the impact he had with the team that drafted him and the city that embraced him is felt to this day.
