3. MJ actually told Steve Kerr to be ready

In Game 6 of the 1997 NBA Finals, Steve Kerr hit a wide-open clutch jumper to help the Bulls win championship No. 5. Everyone remembers the shot coming off an assist from Michael Jordan, who was double-teamed on the play.

Everyone also remembers the behind-the-scenes footage of Kerr telling Jordan on the bench during a timeout that “If he comes off, I’ll be ready.”

Apparently that wasn’t the whole story though. Kerr said that Mike — who was talking into his hand/Gatorade cup during that timeout because he knew the cameras were always on him — was actually telling Kerr to look for the ball first, knowing the Jazz would double him.

For years we’ve thought Kerr’s words were what put this potential outcome on Jordan’s radar, but Kerr saying he’d be ready was actually a response to Jordan letting him know he’d pass him the rock if he got doubled.
