1. Odell Beckham

Critics of NFL wide receivers often point to divas around the league as examples of why the position group is overpaid. It’s safe to say that Beckham is one of the players those critics site most often.

He’s the very definition of a diva. He worked his way out of New York due to his inability to avoid controversy inside the locker room and in the media. He promised to reform his ways in Cleveland but thus far, it’s been more of the same with the Browns.

A player with Beckham’s baggage needs to produce at an elite level to be worth the trouble. 74 catches for just a shade over 1,000 yards does not qualify. That level of production looks especially bad when you consider the fact that Beckham is set to make $18 million in 2020.

It’s fair to wonder if Beckham has lost a step or two at this point in his career. That shouldn’t be the case for a player who is just 27 years old, but it’s possible that football isn’t the priority it should be for a player with Beckham’s talent.

The Browns organization continues to back him publicly heading into the 2020 season, but this could be a make or break year with the franchise for Beckham. As it stands, he earns the “honor” of being the most overpaid wide receiver in the NFL.
