If you are a fan of the New York Giants, you know what the main issue on the team has been for the last few seasons. Yes, the offensive line. This unit has seen a massive overhaul since Gettleman arrived as the general manager and it absolutely needed it.

However, that does not mean the restructure has gone well. Gettleman signing Nate Solder has not proven to be wise. Also, before Gettleman’s arrival, the Giants whiffed mightily on Ereck Flowers. Drafted ninth overall in the 2015 draft, Flowers was a non-factor during his time with the team.

This past draft, Gettleman went offensive line early with Andrew Thomas at pick No. 4. He nailed this. Thomas is exactly what the team needs, and he has the potential to be a long-time starter at either tackle position.

It is always hard demanding a rookie to be great right away, but Thomas has the skills to do so. Whether he plays right tackle, or takes Solder’s left tackle spot, he will be a much-needed upgrade at one of the most crucial positions on offense.

The team’s offensive line finished 17th overall, according to Pro Football Focus‘ grading system. Thomas, fellow rookie Matt Peart, Will Hernandez and Kevin Zeitler can possibly be a very talented core on the line. Something that would help Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley a lot in 2020.

If Thomas is great and provides stability, the team’s offense can open up next year.
