Deshaun Watson, QB (2017-present)

Prior to the 2017 NFL Draft, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney told the media that passing on quarterback Deshaun Watson in the draft would be like passing on Michael Jordan. While that may be a bit of a stretch, there is no doubt that the Texans made the right choice in selecting Watson in the first round that year, as he is already the best quarterback in franchise history.

So, how could a player with only three seasons under his belt be considered the best to ever do it in a Texans uniform? That is simple. Watson has come in and set the league on fire, turning the Texans into a perennial playoff team, and is a guy who many feel will one day lead the Texans to a Lombardi Trophy.

Houston traded up to get Watson at No. 12 overall in the 2017 NFL Draft, and while an injury robbed him of completing his rookie season, the stage was set for him to be the franchise at the future for the foreseeable future. In 2018 and 2019, Watson was named to the Pro Bowl, and has 52 touchdowns against only 21 interceptions during that time.

Watson is already top-3 all-time in every major statistical passing category in team history, which is incredible when you think about the fact he has only started 38 games. He already holds a number of NFL and Texans records, including a five-touchdown performance as a rookie. The ceiling is extremely high for Watson, and thankfully for Texans fans, the team did not pass on him.
