Brian Dawkins, S (1996-2008)

The man affectionately known as Weapon X started his NFL career as a backup in 1996, but it did not take long for him to take over a starting role, and become an absolute legend in Philadelphia. By mid-September of his rookie season, Dawkins was in the starting lineup, and when all was said and done, he had become the best defensive back in team history.

By the 1999 season, Dawkins had become a premier safety in the league, and from that moment on, he would be a Pro Bowler nearly every season. In fact, Dawkins would be named to seven Pro Bowls as a member of the Eagles, and in a span of six season, he was four times named a First-Team All-Pro.

A member of the Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Fame, Dawkins saw the team retire his No. 20 jersey in 2012. That year, he signed a one-day deal to return to the team to have his jersey retired, and has since been enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame as well. A member of the NFL’s All-Decade team for the 2000s, Dawkins ended up winning a Super Bowl with the Eagles as an executive.

Dawkins may not have finished his playing career with the Eagles, but it is time in the City of Brotherly Love that earned his ticket to Canton, Ohio. One of the better playmaking defensive backs in NFL history, Dawkins is one of two men to rack up over 35 interceptions, and force 35 fumbles in their career, and in terms of a ballhawk, you will be hard-pressed to find another safety quite like Dawkins.
