5 players who Redskins need to be great in 2020
1. Dwayne Haskins
The Redskins could have opted to take a quarterback to supplant Haskins on their depth chart, but Rivera and company instead elected to give him a chance to win their trust in 2020. What the team didn’t do was give him much help in either the draft or free agency.
That gives Haskins a big mountain to climb in his second season as a professional. In fairness, the Redskins aren’t asking him to suddenly develop into a star. They just want to see solid progress from his erratic rookie campaign.
The biggest issue for Haskins to address is improving his accuracy. He completed under 60% of his passes in 2019. He needs to move that mark into the mid-60s in year two if he wants to cement his status as the team’s starter moving forward.
Expect scrutiny to focus in on Haskins very quickly. The Redskins didn’t draft his replacement this year, but everyone in the building stayed very lukewarm with their praise of the former Ohio State quarterback. If he doesn’t take a big step forward in 2020 he’s very likely going to be on the trading block when next offseason rolls around.
