Quarterbacks who lead their teams to 10 regular season wins generally are regarded as above average starter. That doesn’t seem to be the case with Allen. It’s time for fans to appreciate what he does well more than criticizing what his weaknesses are.

It’s fair to point out that his completion percentage must get better. The Bills need him to complete more than 58% of his throws in 2020. That’s why they finally went out and got Allen a No. 1 wide receiver to work with in the form of Stefon Diggs.

Despite his inaccuracy Allen still manages to limit his turnovers. He only threw nine interceptions in 2019. That greatly reduces the negative impacts of his incompletions for the Bills offense.

The real key with Allen is how much pressure he puts on opposing defenses with his legs. He’s arguably the best scrambling quarterback in football not named Lamar Jackson. That opens up a ton of space for his offensive teammates.

Allen doesn’t deserve to be considered an elite starting quarterback, but he’s well above the NFL average. More teams around the league would happily trade their starter for Allen tham most people think.
