In 2017, general manager John Elway use the 20th overall selection in the draft to acquire University of Utah tackle Garett Bolles. It’s been a rough three-year tenure for the now 27-year-old performer.

And earlier this month (via NFL Network’s James Palmer, the Broncos declined the fifth-year option on the team’s left tackle. The former Ute has played and started in every game for the franchise since being drafted in the first round three years ago.

But now Bolles is in a prove-it year when it comes to his future with the team and perhaps the league. To be fair, the 6-foot-5, 300-pound performer comes off his best year to date according to Pro Football Focus (subscription required), earning the highest grade (76.1) of his brief career. He would play a total of 1,012 snaps and allow only four sacks. However, he was also penalized a whopping 17 times in 16 contests.

In the 10 seasons that he actually took the field for the Philadelphia Eagles, tackle Jason Peters earned Pro Bowl honors seven times and was named All-Pro twice. The 38-year-old blocker could not only take over on the left side but perhaps school Bolles in the process. Likely a one-year answer, the 6’4”, 328-pound pro could be a solid signing for numerous reasons.
