Minnesota Vikings: 5 free agents to sign in order to win in 2020
By Gino Terrell
1. Jason Peters
Yes. This means the Vikings should pursue two offensive tackles. Jason Peters has stated he sees himself ending his career with the Eagles. For 2020, he should spend one season in Minnesota.
Adding two impact players who can take care of each offensive tackle spot is what the Vikings should go after. This is an offense that will need those edges protected on bootlegs and play actions. In addition, these two can help Cook on running back screens.
Catching out of the backfield may be something the Vikings dial up more in 2020 than years past. While Thielen is an impact player, it will be a mystery to see if Thielen’s production takes a hit during Diggs absence. As more pressure and coverages will be shown Thielen’s way.
In any case, the Vikings strengthening their offensive line appears to be the best option. Currently, the line is lacking a star. With Peters, he brings experience and leadership that could benefit this unit.
Peters won’t necessarily be cheap but for a one-year deal it will be worth it as this is a Vikings team that should be putting all their chips on the table. The Vikings are on the borderline when it comes to being considered Super Bowl contenders. Perhaps Peters could provide a subtle spark that gives them the edge they need.
