5 best college football duos for the 2020 season
By John Buhler
4. Oklahoma State Cowboys: RB Chuba Hubbard, WR Tylan Wallace
If you think the Oklahoma State Cowboys don’t have a chance to win the Big 12 this fall, then you haven’t paid attention to the Pokes offense at all. While quarterback Spencer Sanders does need to improve in his second year as a starter, he has two incredible weapons to work with in running back Chuba Hubbard and wide receiver Tylan Wallace.
Hubbard has a tremendous opportunity to be the best running back to play at Oklahoma State since Barry Sanders. He’s one of two running backs who have serious aspirations of winning the Heisman Trophy. Now that Jonathan Taylor plays in the NFL for the Indianapolis Colts, Hubbard is a lock to be a First-Team All-American and may very well take home the Doak Walker to Stillwater.
His receiving counterpart in Wallace isn’t too shabby either. While Oklahoma State has had a rich history of receiving talent in the Mike Gundy era, Wallace could be the best the Power 5 conference has to offer this point. He already has a 1,000-yard season under his belt. Had he not been limited to nine games last year, Wallace would have made it two years in a row for the Pokes.
Overall, Oklahoma State could have one of its best offensive trios in team history in Hubbard, Wallace and Sanders. Though they have to beat Texas and beat rival Oklahoma in Bedlam, this team has a shot to be the greatest Oklahoma State team since the 2011 team led by Brandon Weeden and Justin Blackmon. Hubbard and Wallace are undeniably outstanding players.
